Emptiness and Fulness

Life has its seasons. There are times of fulness-- being filled food and plenty, with joy, with friendships, with family, with blessings. A pregnant woman is full of life and one day, she delivers up that life and is again empty. We cycle through emptiness and fulness.

We do this with our daily bread. We eat and are filled, our body uses the food for nourishment, energy and strength, and then we are empty and must eat again to fill our empty bellies.

Sometimes our spirits are empty. We wake to find that we hunger. We wake to an emptiness we did not create nor expect. At first we are uncomfortable. We remorse whatever the loss. When we stop fighting and start seeing, we remember we cannot hunger if we have a full belly. Likewise, we cannot hunger spiritually if we are never empty inside. In times of emptiness, for whatever reasons, we have a great opportunity. We can choose with what we will fill ourselves.

"And I choose......"

Quotables

Beth (who is trying to overcome the habit of re-arranging her underwear): Mom? Why doesn't Jane pick her butt?

Jane: (adamantly) I DO!
